Hollywood was Lame, But Pig’s Feet Saved It

If hiking Griffith Park was my favorite part of visiting LA, going around the other touristy spots in Hollywood was my least favorite, which is probably why it’s taken me so long to get to this. I think it was because it reminded me so much of the crushing crowds of Times Square, minus the exciting billboards. Luckily, it was saved by the best proper meal we had the entire vacation at a lovely restaurant called République.

Hiking Griffith Park was, for me, the highlight of visiting LA (not including Santa Monica). Hiking there was so different from my hiking experiences in the East Coast. It really made me ponder the idea that you could use up your vacations just in the United States for a few years and still have more to explore after that.

This is a real, climbing-over-rocks, sweat-pouring-out-of-you kind of hike. Especially if you do the labyrinth section, which is an entire section of combined rock-scrambling and spelunking.

This place is gorgeous, and is perfect for both avid hikers or people just looking to hang out by the lake. There’s a parking lot that’s right near a picnic area, a food truck, and a lovely view of the lake. It has miles and miles of trails for you to enjoy.
